Today I'm expanding on my Fuwa plushie photos, I spent the day with my Huanhuan and decided to make some cookies. I bought some of the ingredients I needed yesterday, but I was happy that I had enough flour to make them because the bag we had in the kitchen was almost empty

Huanhuan shows off the finished plate of cookies, I ended up making 3 1/2 dozen and they all turned out well!

The Fuwa have been together for a whole day, so I thought it would be kind of cute to see how Nini's friends have been doing in their new habitat. I took a few pictures of my Fuwa plushies checking out various things in my bedroom


Beibei was curious about my computer and wanted to have a look


I guess Jingjing and Yingying wanted to practice singing in English, because they're reading the lyric book from my Hairspray movie soundtrack

I've had my Nini Fuwa plush for almost two months now - she's so adorable! While I was at Square One last month, I noticed they had a whole display of Beijing Olympic goods at Zellers, so I bought a little Nini plush key ring

Another item they had was a set of all five Fuwa plushies - both full-size and mini. The full-size set was $65, the mini set was about $45. I bought the full-size set while I was out today and gave the Nini plush to my friend who was with me because I already had one. So now I have Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan and Yingying to add to my own Nini!

Things have been running me so ragged that I'm on the verge of meltdown. I haven't been sleeping well lately, my job sucks, I have no idea what I'm going to do with the rest of my life and sometimes my mom drives me absolutely crazy!

I might as well drag out the horror that was my shift at work yesterday - it was lousy. I'm the top-ranked part-timer in my department at the grocery store where I work, and I'm the only girl in said department (all the rest of my co-workers in that area are guys). I feel sometimes that my boss treats me like a glorified maid - all I'm good for as far as I'm concerned is sweeping floors, cleaning display ledges, pulling paper out of plastic signs and hauling cases of bananas. I hardly get to do what the other guys get to do - trim stuff, fill tables, help put loads away, etc. As the only girl, I get reduced to maid duty while the guys get to to the more important stuff!
Then near the end of my shift yesterday, I'm ready to go home and the person who took over for my boss after he left asks me to do something last-minute! I wanted to go home, so I got kind of angry (of course I was already moody since it's "that time of month"). So I finish the job and return to the stockroom...when a pile of empty boxes falls off my cart and onto the floor. It was enough to push me over the edge - I screamed. Then I got upset and all I wanted to do was go home. Now I'm afraid of showing my face for my next shift because of this

Why do things have to be so hard? (*cries*)

Yesterday I went to the dentist to get some fillings done. It was a walk in the park for me, I didn't feel a thing! Mind you, they were only minor fillings - nothing big (I have to go back next week to get the left side of my mouth done)

As for today, I went to Square One for my routine quarterly blood donation. I couldn't resist bringing my stuffed Pikachu along with me as sometimes it helps me relax when I'm in the chair with a needle in my arm. As a side trip before I was due at the clinic, I went to Chapters across from the bus terminal on Rathburn and picked up the Hairspray movie book I really wanted. After the donation, I wandered around the Disney Store checking out things and ended up buying a Minnie Mouse mug for when I have tea (to go with a Tinkerbell one I bought quite a while ago). At the same time, I also pre-ordered the Enchanted DVD that comes out in two weeks, and as a gift for doing so, I received a folder with 4 gorgeous lithographs from the movie

I got my Nini mascot plushie last week, it's so cute!



I've also been to the dentist for the first time in a long time. I got cleanings done today and last Friday, and next Monday I have to go back and get some minor cavities filled. The people at the dental office I go to are so nice, I'm actually looking forward to my next appointment

Friday night, there was an episode of "The Price is Right" in primetime, and it was a Million Dollar Spectacular (the first for Drew Carey since taking over as the new host). Tons of high-end prizes were given out, and there was a twist for the Showcase round that if you came within $1,000 or less away from the actual retail price of your showcase, you'd win both showcases and a million dollars on top of that. You'll have to see the video clip below to believe what actually happened!

I swear, the movie version of Hairspray is awesome! Saw it the day it opened in July and I got the DVD for Christmas (I also got the soundtrack for my birthday). I never knew the awesome talent of the cast (aside from Queen Latifah, who I adored in "Chicago") until I saw it

I found this on YouTube when I was searching for Hairspray videos, it's a 2-part video of members of the cast performing songs from the movie on the Today Show the day the film opened




Part 1 includes "Good Morning Baltimore", "Nicest Kids In Town" and "Ladies' Choice". Hearing James Marsden sing makes me MELT! He is that good, he should really consider doing a CD



Part 2 includes "Got So Far To Go" and "You Can't Stop The Beat"

My first post of '08!

Gotta say that 2007 certainly was an interesting year for me with a lot of ups and downs - my biggest and most memorable moment was finally graduating from university, something I've been working hard at for 9 long years (at my university, we take as long as we need to complete our degrees since we pay by number of credits taken). It was such a special moment for me, I couldn't stop smiling throughout the rest of the ceremony

As for this year, my main goal is to get a full-time job and earn some more money so that one day, I can go to New York and watch the ball drop at Times Square

So to all my friends on LiveJournal, I wish you a safe, happy and fantastic year ahead!

To make the long story from two weeks ago even longer...

The ticket window opened on Thursday for graduation, so I tried to order some and I find out my subject assessment was incomplete because I didn't fully qualify for the major. I told my dad, who told my mom, and today she called the person who did the assessment. While I was out, the person called back and explained the circumstances - I didn't have enough credits to qualify for graduation with an Italian major. So my mom notices on the printout of the assessment that I had four and a half French credits along with three completed Italian credits with 3 questionable ones, and asks about the possibility of me graduating with a double minor. Because I entered U of T in 1998, I did qualify for the double minor and the person made 2 of the questionable credits unquestionable. I received an email saying she's given me the green light, and before my mom left for work, we got another call from the same person. She said she's contacted the registrar's office so they could change my program from a major to a double minor in the system, and we would get a phone call tomorrow.

So to make the long story short, yes I'm graduating for sure now, and my mom is a hero!

I will be an official graduate of the University of Toronto at Mississauga on November 15! It's quite a story...

I completed my degree requirements in May, but was unaware that I had to formally request being part of the November ceremony, so I missed the deadline. I called the registrar's office Friday afternoon, who suggested I schedule a walk-in appointment with a counselor as soon as possible, Monday being the most convenient.
I went to see the counselor on Monday morning, who was very nice and extremely helpful, and she was able to secure me a place in the November 15 convocation ceremony. She filled out a card, handed it to me to sign, and told me to take it to one of the service desks, which I did. The only other thing I had to do was pay a $25 late fee.

The hard part out of the way, I paid for my grad regalia rental with help from my mom, and I'm now waiting for the ticket request period to start. I am really excited about graduation, and I'm looking forward to taking the next big step in my life
